Thank you to everyone who joined AIDSCare for the 6th Annual Bar AIDS in Chicago on Thursday, August 27, 2009!

On August 27th, Participating Bars in the Chicagoland area pledged a portion of their proceeds to benefit AIDSCare. As an additional fundraiser, Bar AIDS Ambassadors were assigned to each bar to sell raffle tickets and mingle with patrons, getting the word out about the fund raiser and raising HIV/AIDS awareness in the community.

A highlight for the evening was the sighting of actor Bill Murray at one of our Participating Bars. We'd love to think that he came out for this event alone, but assume he was simply seeking a late night nook or old haunt in Chicago to catch up with friends. Either way, it was a very fun and exciting part of the evening, especially for the Volunteer Ambassador and Staff who spoke with him. Keep an eye out for an autographed Bar AIDS poster on the web page soon!

The Grand Prize Raffle Ticket for two roundtrip tickets to Hawaii or Central America was purchased at Bucks Saloon in Boystown. Congratulations to the winner and Okole Maluna (Cheers!) from AIDSCare! All six raffle prize winners have been contacted by AIDSCare staff. Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets during the 2009 Bar AIDS fundraiser. We hope to see you again next year!
